We purchased 9-1/2 acres of rolling pastureland in 2000.  We have steadily worked our way to this point.  Our home is slowly taking shape.  We never finish a project quickly because we spend a lot of time planning and designing the details of our home once we are living in it.  Pictures on this page will get updated as our project progresses.  Enjoy!

These are pictures of the back of the house and front of the house.  Our house has been called a "Long Island Beach House" style or possibly closer to the "shingle style".  The gables will have cedar shingles while the first floor will be covered in charcoal gray hardi-plank siding.  We have three covered porches.  The main porch runs the entire length of the front of the house.  The back porch takes in sunsets while the master bedroom porch will someday be screened in for summer time sleeping. A second master bedroom will someday be upstairs with it's own private balcony.

^ The dining room also shares the 18 foot ceiling with palladian windows above.  Future projects include a loft area (above and left in picture) that will have a reading nook and Don's art studio.  A spiral staircase near the breakfast room will take you to this area.

^  The living room has hardwood floors and 18 foot ceilings.  7 square windows are above the roof line of the covered back porch, allowing the sunlight to stream in.  Future projects include a woodburning stove, window trim and, of course, furniture!

^ The kitchen has cherry cabinets, hardwood floors and the same 18 foot ceiling.  It opens to the living room and the breakfast room.  Future projects include upper cabinets and trim.

<<<   The breakfast room has a barrel ceiling. A wonderful effect that we duplicated in the master bedroom.  The kitchen is to the right. The french doors to the left lead to the back porch.  Future projects include tongue and groove oak on the barrel ceiling, trim, a spiral staircase taking you to the loft above and other details that we are still thinking on!

^  Another view of the kitchen with the island in place.  The island was formerly our dining room table.  A few cuts here, some paint there and a sink dropped in and it fits right in!

The master bathroom has a jacuzzi tub and a custom shower with two shower heads and a full length window looking out into our woods! >>>

<<< Unable to find vanities that fit our ideas, we found two of these wonderful buffet servers and cut in the sinks.

Our latest addition is a Jotul Woodburning Stove.  First we had to lay the hearth (left)  Then we had to install the chimney (right)

Our first fire!  Just in time for Christmas! The fireplace surround will be stone and cherry with an arched opening.
